FIFTH CHAKRA (THROAT) – ETHER

The fifth chakra, known as the throat chakra, is located at the back of the neck and encompasses the entire jaw. It governs communication, connection, creativity and personal intention. On a physiological level, this chakra influences the throat, thyroid, trachea, esophagus, parathyroid, hypothalamus, neck, mouth, teeth and ears and, when unhealthy or deficient, it affects the health of these physical areas in the body. On an energy level, it is the chakra of personal fifth chakra; it is the channel through which we express our Divine Spirit to the world. On the color spectrum, this vibrates energetically to the color of a blue summer sky. Its focus is, “I express. I listen. I communicate.”

The fifth chakra not only governs our ability to express ourselves authentically and creatively in life. It also influences our ability to actively listen to and genuinely hear others , which is the foundation for understanding. It is the energetic gateway to positive negotiation, discussion, and most important, teaching and learning. In many ways, this chakra is the portal to the world, moving us from solely our own subjective perspective to allows us to experience different points of view, thus giving us the chance to learn.

If, for example, you are having a bad day, you may speak to someone harshly, never actually saying anything unkind but clearly conveying your irritation. That innocent person may misinterpret your irritability as a reaction to him and become defensive and afraid. Then, because he is feeling threatened, he will speak to the next person with an edge in his voice, once again causing a negative reaction and so on. Once set in motion, this chain effect can pollute an entire environment, adversely affecting all those who are in it, leaving everyone drained and wondering what hit them. All the while the person with the unhealthy or deficient fifth chakra remains unconscious of what he has initiated, and may even continue to wreak energetic havoc. This happens often in office environments.

It only takes one unconscious or harsh expression to pollute the energetic environment for everyone. If your fifth chakra is open and healthy, you are sensitive to how you influence your others in how you expression. You are also sensitive to others; expression affects you. You become sound sensitive and gravitate away from negative or unconscious and destructive sound and vibration.

Collective thoughts, can have serious and damaging effects, and take away your power. They are responsible for perpetuating judgment, discrimination, and intolerant beliefs that keep us suspicious and afraid of one another. It can be found on the news, in music, on TV, in newspapers, on the radio, and in general conversation. Be aware not to allow groupthink to control you. Be aware of the thoughts running through your mind and know they will create your world. Choose wisely and with care to create the world you want and not simply take the unwanted world of group junk thinking.

This chakra opens up the psychic gift of clairaudience or “clear hearing.” Clairaudience is the ability to tune into the Divine Spirit for direction at any given moment. When this aspect of fifth chakra is activated, we are guided to make the best possible decisions to achieve our goals and express our creativity. Clairaudience also channels our spirit guides who are ready to assist us in every possible way. When this channel of fifth chakra is open we are in constant contact with Higher Power and are being navigated through life so that we may experience the beauty while avoiding the pitfalls. When we are in tune with spirit, we are in a state of grace. We seem to draw to us just what we need rather than having to go after it. This band of fifth chakra brings an almost magical quality to life, offering gifts in the form of subtle impulses, hunches, instincts and bright ideas. The fifth chakra reminds us that we are Divine children of heaven, who are watched over and cared for every step of the way.

Unhealthy or Deficient Fifth Chakra

When your fifth chakra is unhealthy or deficient, you hide your true feelings, don’t listen, tune others and your intuition out, and follow the negative mental patterns of thought, which controls you and takes your power away.

Usually people who have an unhealthy or deficient fifth chakra were muffled a great deal in childhood. They were often told by when young, either directly or indirectly, to “shut up” or “be quiet.” You may also not have listened to, been told to keep secrets, or observed others keeping secrets, lying, and feeding you constant negativity.

If some people suffer from thwarted fifth chakra, others suffer from expressing themselves recklessly. In this is true, you will talk on and on mindlessly, communicating little of any real substance. Inane and aimless talk may also be a way of tuning out the uncomfortable feeling of hearing negative mind chatter. When your fifth chakra is unhealthy you may grate on people’s nerves, consume their energy and bore them.

Power of Affirmation

The best way to take advantage of your creative and healing power is to practice invoking exactly what you want through the affirmation. The subconscious mind, which executes your creative orders, responds best to repeated statements. Create simple statements that affirm exactly what you want and repeat them over and over. Or you can invoke the power of fifth chakra by creating affirming songs and singing them over and over. The reason this works so well is that when you sing an affirmation, you engage the power of the heart chakra as well. When you bring these two energy chakras into alignment, you release one of the most powerful forces on earth.
